The Tale of Despereaux

The Tale of Despereaux.jpgI am reading this book with my class called The Tale of Despereaux. It is about a mouse who saw a sliver of light when he was born. That mouse was named Despereaux. When he grew up he didn't want to do what other mice did. In one part of the story, Despereaux found a book which was about a knight saving a princess. He loves the story, but the first words in the book were the ones he really loved. The words were "Once Upon A Time." Later into the book, Despereaux fell in love with the Princess Pea. But his brother found out and told his father, so Despereaux was thrown into the dungeon where he met Gregory and told him a story. Meanwhile, another part of the story was about a rat named Roscuro. But I  won't tell you about it because I would like you to read it. It's a very interesting book. My class and I are not finished with the book yet, but we'll finish it soon. The funny part about me relating to Despereaux is that my mom and dad sometimes call me 'Mousey' because they think I'm cute as a mouse. I love this book the most because the author has so much detail about the story and you can actually picture it out in your mind. I also love this book because Despereaux is brave about never giving up on the princess and you should do it too to your family and friends. I hope you are going to read the book and enjoy it!

Are you brave in not giving up on someone you love?

  4. Love your blog and your review of Despereaux! I've seen the movie but never read the book, it sounds like it's better than the movie, I'll have to check it out. Keep up the good work, looking forward to more blogging from you and the rest of your class.

  5. I really enjoyed The Tale of Despereaux, but it's been a long time since I read it!! Maybe I should pick it up again. Who would you recommend this book to, even if you haven't finished it yet? Have you read any other books by Kate DiCamillo, like Because of Winn-Dixie? I really like her writing. Keep up the great writing! - JHR in Plainview
